AWARENESS
Dedicated to the Enhancement of Tefilla

Statement of Purpose:

 1.    To promote a greater appreciation and understanding of the kedusha (sanctity) of tefilla (prayer) as well as of the House of Prayer; and to educate others in the general concept of tefilla as well as the meanings of specific tefillos, which would serve to make the tefilla experience more inspiring and absorbing. It would also significantly reduce the temptation to socialize in shul.

2.    To convey this message to all segments of the Orthodox Jewish public,
with the cooperation of Rabbonim, Roshei Yeshiva and mechanchim.

3.    To endeavor to upgrade the concept of tefilla in the eyes of the younger
generation.

4.    To independently organize or support the efforts of others in arranging
special seminars or shiurim on the subject of tefilla. To appeal to Rabbonim, Roshei Yeshiva and mechanchim to place more emphasis on this topic.

5.    To enlist the support of gedolim to endow this campaign with proper
gravity in the eyes of the public.

6.    To monitor the results/effects of our efforts in order to determine which
methods are most productive (e.g. articles and posters or derashos and
shiurim).

7.    To encourage communities where socializing at tefilla is a problem, to
appoint one or two respected members to assume responsibility for shul
decorum. It should be emphasized that this must be done in the most
tactful and honorable manner possible.   

8.    To organize and promote the existing (3 years) nationwide “S’habbos
Tacharishun” devoted to the realization of our goals. To introduce the
idea worldwide.

9.    To produce material in Hebrew or Yiddish, in line with the existing
material in English, for communities where this would be more
appropriate.
